Going to an amusement park is fun and exciting to children, but moving to a different place is another story. It is not as thrilling as we think it is to children. The most difficult part about moving well besides the planning and preparation is how to tell the children about the move. As a working mother I want to share what I did when I told my children we need to move because I got promoted.

I gathered the whole family over a dinner and a movie marathon. I made sure that everybody is there; and then I ordered some of their favourite foods. I started a casual conversation with them. Until I reach to the topic of my plan to move, I told them I got a new job. I explain to them why I need that promotion and why we need to move. I told them about what I feel and think about the move. After I talked I encouraged my children to express how they feel, their anxiety and fears about the move. I listened to then carefully and re assures them of their fears. It was the first time that my family is moving so it was really difficult for us. But I was surprise on how my children cooperated with me. I’m so glad I told them.
